An unorthodox, celebratory concert film of the Dutch-based band, the Ex, playing in New York. The Ex have existed in various incarnations for over 25 years, combining the original anarcho-political spirit of punk with folk, noise and improvisation. The film intercuts city and protest footage with what the director calls ‘as fierce and passionate a performance as I’ve witnessed in over 20 years of filming musicians’. The film continues in Cohen’s line of projects (Instrument, Benjamin Smoke, Lucky Three) exploring music-making done outside of the mainstream and the music industry.
