Auf+Ab+An+Zu

In the 1968 film Auf+Ab+An+Zu, not only was the celluloid painted on, but so was the screen. The materials used were a paper screen, drawing utensils and the pattern film. Instead of technical reproduction to infinity and through celluloid, there was a shift in production to a new sense of time.
Since 1967, the Austrian artist Valie EXPORT (1940, Linz ) has concentrated on what is known as expanded cinema, since 1970 on video and since 1973 on 16mm film. These days, body art, laser installations, photography and drawing are also her fields of work. Her work has been presented in many American and western European cities.
