Ramon Dos Santos composed the piano sonata Music for the Blind as a homage to the talent of pianist Tomoko Mukaiyama. Following her interpretation, Dos Santos said: 'This piece was written with a needle. And Tomoko played as sharply and delicately as a needle. She is the needle.'
