‘Upon realising my hatred towards my mother, I felt like shedding tears over this inexcusable self-hatred.’ In order to express and accept the very intense memory of a fatally ill mother and a grandmother who spent time on an island in her youth, Setoguchi Miki has crafted puppets out of various foodstuffs (such as rotten meat) and cursed them.
