The photographer and film maker Jan Schaper (1921, The Hague), who has now lived in Schiedam for some time, was one of the most intriguing personalities in the cultural circles of Rotterdam in the 1950s and 1960s. However, the fame of the ‘Schaper phenomenon’ has so far been restricted to a small circle. It’s time that Schaper was brought to the attention of a broader audience.
