An intelligent documentary in which two very different worlds are brought together. On one hand, the world of the global pharmaceutical industry that regards the treatment of heroin addiction mainly as a market. On the other side, the old traditions of the African Bwiti culture, in which the hallucinogenic characteristics of ibogaine, which is acquired from a root, play a role in rituals. The researcher Howard Lotsof discovered the effectiveness of ibogaine in treating addicts. But who believes him? Certainly not Western scientists specialised in addiction. The film provides an enlightening insight into ibogaine usage by the Bwitis, as well as a handful of ibogaine defenders in the West.
