Wars leave behind the dead, the wounded, the maimed, the victims and the witnesses. In this film, some of those left behind in Afghanistan, Colombia, Sierra Leone and New York share their memories, nightmares and dreams. The film takes us beyond the politics and rhetoric of statesmen, terrorists and soldiers. Filmed by an award-winning team from The Netherlands, child survivors share how they find the courage to live on in the aftermath of war despite the horrors they have endured. These children are little heroes who can still find joy in memories, as they live within the ruins and play within the rubble. Juxtaposing the stories of real children with storybook animation, the film is a sensitive portrayal of the consequences of war.
