The central part of the exhibition space in TENT. is commonly called 'square' (plein) because the building in fact used to be a school, and that location was originally the playground. Winters/van Heeswijk will add coloured lines and surfaces to this space. Just as in a sports arena, these lines have no meaning beyond the fact that they are used by the players. The relationship between those players develops according to the rules of the game and the tension that rises tells us something about the interhuman/relational/social connections at play. It is the spectator who defines the underlying reality of the players, their implicit rules.
