The allotment is one of the places that largely goes unnoticed by the majority of Dutch people. Ben van Lieshout previously made short, stylised documentaries about similar places: remote corners of industrial estates used for prostitution and a large shopping centre. In Allotment, he sings the praises of these small pieces of land seen from the perspective of the satisfied gardeners and poets such as Rutger Kopland, Gerrit Kouwenaar and Adriaan Jaeggi.
