Spring 1621, the studio of the painter Franz Pourbus. Mathieu is the guild’s best pupil and therefore he may complete a prestigious commission from the Spanish Equerry: in 19 days, he has to complete a portrait of the young infante. However, court protocol insists the painter may not communicate directly with his model.
