A fictional character talks on the soundtrack about his quest for a fictional friend. That fact looks pure fiction, but it isn't that simple in this film. The film makers used the fictional framework to make an unusual portrait of America. About people who belong to the white, undiscriminated majority, but are still not successful. These so-called white trash are recorded here sensitively and captivatingly in a way that would probably not have been possible in a pure documentary.
