Embracing, just like Katatsumori made two years later in 1994, is a highly regarded personal documentary about the people around the director and an appealing quest for her father, whom she hasn’t seen for a long time. At the time, the film received a special commendation from the FIPRESCI jury at the Yamagata International Film Festival.
