This film marks Markovic’s transition from the realism of Special Education and National Class to poetic realism and a different subject.Déjà vu is a very stylised psychological drama with thriller elements. It is set in Yugoslavia in 1971. Mihailo, once a brilliant and famous pianist, now teaches at night school. His colleagues think he is strange, but they leave him in peace in his calm, lonely life. Everything changes when a new teacher comes to work at the college, a young and attractive woman (Anica Dobra). Mihailo immediately feels attracted to her and tries to attract her attention. She is not particularly interested in Mihailo, but she is fairly easy in her relationships with men and starts an intensely erotic affair. This relationship leads to strange changes in Mihailo’s spirit. The situations he experiences seem to be a repetition of events from his childhood, only the people have been slightly changed. He remembers his childhood with his rich parents in the same house that he now has to share with his compatriots under the Communist regime. Present and past start getting mixed up and Mihailo’s emotions become so charged that they must lead to tragedy.With Mustafa Nadarevic, from Ademir Kenovic’ Perfect Circle, playing the lead.
