Is there are a formal language that is inherent in the contextual properties of the medium Internet? Makers of interactive online works show their innovative and challenging research into the possibilities. Their strategies vary: stories in which the viewer chooses the camera perspective, an online soap where the visitor becomes increasingly part of the story and a cinematographic game world that becomes more and more personal. Carl Goodman is curator of Digital Media at the American Museum of the Moving Image. Nick Crowe is a well-known English photographer who has experimented with the potential of Internet in recent years. Tim Wright, with Rob Bevan and Tom Harvey, forms XPT, a British company that concentrates entirely on online entertainment. Stephanie Owens is founder/creative director of Oddcast. Ian Verchere designs and produces games, serials and interactive applications. He worked for Honkworm International and recently for Electronic Arts. Sébastien Kochman is founder and creative leader of the French cHmAn, the makers of banja.com.
