India too has had its share of the rise of terrorism all over the world in the last couple of decades. Kurudippunal deals with the dilemmas faced by a pair of Indian police officers who are investigating an underground political terrorist group.A couple of young policemen are trained to go undercover and join a terrorist group in order to subvert it from within. But the leader of the terrorists escapes from prison and sets about playing a dangerous game of one-upmanship with the two cops. The climax reveals the terrible weaknesses built into the system that the cops firmly believe in. The film was India’s nomination for the Academy Award in 1995.
