Faust - Eine deutsche Volkssage is Murnau's 112-minute long monumental film version of Goethe's literary masterpiece. In 1999, this 1926 film was the basis of a musical project, a cooperative venture between the Goethe Institute in Palermo and the Faust Quartet. During the screening of Faust, the quartet played a musical improvisation, based on several concepts, in which the images of the film determined the course of the music. The performance was so successful that the five musicians decided to continue with it, so that the show has already been performed in several different venues. The Faust Quartet consists of Miriam Palma, Maurizio Maiorana, Giorgio Occhipinti, Lelio Giannetto and Domenico Sciajno.
