From 14th-century instruments and Iranian folk music to kitsch science-fiction B-films and 'death metal' adorned with 21st-century technology. For years, Merv Pepler and Joie Hinton, alias Eat Static, have investigated the field of technology and, as true pioneers, they have produced a broad spectrum of music. Their recent 'Crash and Burn' is a powerful statement by the duo that makes the wealth and pleasure of artistic freedom taste good. The release of their new album is planned for February. Together with video wizard and festival discovery Ikunishi Yasunori from Japan, whose work is just as rich in worldwide influences, they submerge the audience in a salutary bath of images and sound.
