An early film version of the famous play by Alexandre Dumas from 1848. La Bertini was wonderful in this drama about the relationship between Margherita and the heartless Armando, the man who kidnapped her emotions. The film includes passion, tearing apart, love as suffering and of course a tragic ending. A beautiful setting and many fine scenes in which Bertini makes herself up in front of the mirror. Ennio Morricone made an orchestra score for this film.
