Richie Hawtin

Richie Hawtin is recognised worldwide as a pioneer in techno. In 1990 he started in Detroit the record label Plus 8, where he released several CDs under the names Plastikman and F.U.S.E., stressing the atmospheric and experimental side of techno. Last year Hawtin founded a new label, MINUS, that had to offer shelter to a variety of projects. MINUS wants to be more than just a record label and uses all possible technological developments; for instance there is an impressively designed web site. 'MINUS wants to investigate the new media and their relationship to music and technology', according to Hawtin. Both the latest CDs by Plastikman (Consumed and Artifakts) as Hawtin's Concept 1 project were published by MINUS. Hawtin's DJ set will consist of electronic music and atmospheric soundtracks.
