Inventive documentary about immigrant children in Switzerland. These secundos, second-generation immigrants, give their opinions on their position in a society on the move. In the editing Samir made much use of graphic and video techniques to combine pictures and texts. The film dates from a period when digital techniques were not commonplace, but in its design it was clearly ahead of its time. The special look was used because the film incorporates an essayist approach to the media. Babylon 2 is not just about foreigners in Switzerland, but especially about their image as it is created in the media. The result is a montage of documentary film and video images, mixed with more experimental images and sounds and acted scenes. Samir wanted to use the confrontation of opposites to design his film message.
