Loïc is a fashion and art photographer who is always short of cash. To economise, he lives with his mother in Arcueil, a not particularly chic suburb of Paris that is a long way away from Loïc's target, the hip centre of the French capital. His work regularly brings Loïc into contact with the happy few. For instance with Vincent, a civilised young man with access to the better milieus. Problems start when Vincent falls for Loïc's sweet little sister Sophie, a girl who - unlike her brother - does not know exactly what she wants. But she does know she wants something and is very interested in the outside world that Vincent can offer her.Un frère is a bitter-sweet film about growing up, love and sex, ambitions and career, with powerful roles by e.g. Jeannick Gravelines as Loïc and Emma de Caunes as his charming corruptible sister Sophie. Silvie Verheyde: 'I wanted to capture the mystery of the fighting spirit that people in need display, people who have the inner strength to get back on their feet and carry on, whatever happens to them.'
