Memoria de lo desconocido

Sensitive road movie made on a small budget and with real feeling for cinema. The film, shot on locations in Holland, France and Spain, tells the story of a bus trip to the South. But the passengers will never reach their destination, because somewhere halfway, in the middle of nowhere, the bus gets stranded in thick fog. In vain the passengers try to identify something from the sounds that seem to emerge from behind this impenetrable wall. From behind the windows of the bus, they listen to fragments of sentences that they cannot understand and are witnesses to a world they cannot fathom. In this way they are at the mercy of exactly what they are trying to escape: of the memories that slowly take shape from the fog and the voices. Images of a journey that almost invisibly, yet gruesomely fails, without them being able to prevent it. When the fog rises only the cold of a moist morning remains. The bus turns out to have come to a halt near a small village. Outside the villagers are imperturbably busy preparing for a festival. When the sun eventually breaks through, the passengers venture forth from the bus and move among the festive villagers. Here, in these unknown and incomprehensible surroundings, the stranded travellers try to warm them and remember something about themselves. This production was originally intended as a short film, but gradually developed into a film of feature length.
