Sadie admires her sister Georgia, who managed to find the perfect balance between a brilliant singing career and an admirable family life. While Georgia celebrates triumph after triumph, the unhinged Sadie manages to build up a singing career with unknown bar bands, while also fighting her drink and drug addiction. No one can stop Sadie from trying to destroy herself, her friends, lovers and above all her sister. An unexpected confrontation ensues. Ulu Grosbard’s powerful character study is a tight mood sketch of the Seattle music scene. Barbara Turner, the mother of leading actress Jennifer Jason Leigh, was responsible for the screenplay. The film was originally intended to be made by Robert Altman.
