Father Li Maojie, mother Fu Derong and sons Li Ji and Li Wei play themselves in this real-life family-tragedy. The two unemployed sons live with their mother, a dancer, while their father is in a home for the mentally ill. The boys make life for their parents pretty difficult. The director 'borrowed' the father from the institution to play several scenes from his former family life just before the father was originally sent to the hospital.
