The City of Nice in the mid-seventies. Fabio comes from a poor working- class family with a rather dim mother and a right-wing father who has a passion for collecting statuettes of fascist soldiers. Fabio wants to be a pop musician but doesn’t get much further than strumming the air as he listens to Jimi Hendrix records. As a reaction to his father’s opinions, he dreams of left-wing terrorism. While Fabio quotes Stalin, the introverted, middle-class Alain prefers to stick to Plato. He is almost dragged into the rather abstract protest idealism of Fabio. They smash a window in the city hall and get excited when newspapers report the incident as if it was a terrorist attack. However they soon lose their nerve when it looks as if they’ll be blamed for real terrorist attacks in the city.
