Moraes has so far made documentaries, often with a fictional element. Mil e uma is a feature made with the aid of improvisation and providing an insight into present-day Brazil. Alice, who has been promoted to deputy director at work, is successful yet dissatisfied. Unhappy with her work and her husband. The death of her father prompts a resolute decision. She leads her husband David and her work and gets involved in something new: a film about Marcel Duchamp. She happens to meet the perfect protagonist, the avant-garde musician Antonio, with whom she has a passionate affair. When money continued to be a problem, she looks up David again. He puts her in touch with a drug dealer, the Baron.
