The little African boy Moctar regularly sees a hyena in his new home in France. Is he imagining it? People around him start to have their doubts about his senses. But Moctar knows better. His grandpa, a wise man with magical African powers, would have known what to do with the mysterious hyena. Moctar misses Africa. After years of hard work, his father now has his own garage and is at last able to bring his wife and child over from Mali. The family reunion is still far from being all roses. After years of work, his father will not tolerate any protest and doesn't understand Moctar's yearning for Africa. When Moctar makes friends with the former truck-driver and juggler Paulo, he starts coming to terms with his visions.
