Original filmed portrait of seven prostitutes, male and female, from Palermo, divided into chronologically distinct chapters based on short stories by the director himself. Grimaldi wanted this film to be a protest: ‘These days Italian film production is completely dependent on television money and that is very dangerous.’ Making films is determined by two compulsory choices: it has to be in colour and may not comprise scenes that may make the film unsuitable for young viewers – and they are always sexual, violence is not covered by censorship.’ Thanks to a state grant for artistic and culturally-important films and the efforts of all its cast and crew, Grimaldi for once did not have to comply with these demands.
