--When Richard Philpott starts on a film, he doesn't want to know how it will end. His films are also travelogues with an uncertain ending. In the first, an ironic view of the United States, planes and bird's-eye-view panoramas play an important role. The second, a 'travel collage', comprises shots of e.g. piers off the Dutch coast and the Grand Canal in Venice.
