Grand documentary portrait of the 74-year-old Hungarian peasant woman Veronika Kiss, with the airs of a feature. The film was shot in splendid black & white in the village Rimoc in the most primitive area of the Hungarian countryside. The old woman resolves to do at least two more things before she dies. She wants to visit London and her son, who had fled in 1956, and she wants to clear up the wilderness in her vineyard. Before her journey abroad, the old woman must confront modern urban society; a confrontation that provides poignant scenes. When the film was just completed, it was screened in Rotterdam and received a very high audience appreciation score. In the meantime it has lost none of its charm and power.
