Observations is the name of a series of short 35mm films intended as shorts for the cinema. based on the documentary form, a melancholy and humorous look is taken at people going about their daily lives. Films about the pleasure of looking as everyone can do that, with some times the imagination of the film-maker being assimilated in the documentary footage. In My Street we see the drudge which accompanies work on the sewers. In a street dug up to mend the sewer, others also have to do their work. Evening looks at the oldest trader on Amsterdam's Albert Cuyp market. A garbage truck comes dangerously close. Lock and Quay sympathises with pleasure sailors in an overcrowded lock in Friesland. The Big Whale observes people on a ferry across the River IJ in Amsterdam.î
