Dannah Nayblat, the maker of the short documentary Shchenim, moved into a house in Jerusalem in 1990. She was soon confronted with the hostility which had existed for years between two neighbours, both aging bachelors. One, Simon, is a bitter homosexual who hates the army and receives Arabs in his house while the other, Amnon, is a hard-of-hearing right-wing radical who alleges he is an expert in every conceivable field. The two accuse each other ceaselessly and brave attempts by Nayblat to settle their quarrel only result in disappointment.Shchenim is a straightforward picture of the two neighbours who, each safe in his own house, plainly state their hatred of each other.
