This sombre yet warm film tells in effective black & white images the story of a whore who lives in a gloomy apartment block. She leaves her house, picks up an old man in a casino and returns to her flat after the paid love. And she is disgusted at herself. The film expresses the mood of German expressionist cinema, largely thanks to the depiction of the craving for money.
