A film about the films focusing on the customs of the traditional Emmentaler farmers, mountain dwellers and inhabitants of Zurich. Giger restricted himself to the fifties and the work of two film-makers: Franz Schnyder and Kurt Früh, two German-speaking directors who pursued in their work the very rich film-production tradition of the war years. In Früh’s films the existence of the city dweller is sketched with a neo-realistic tone, while Schnyder’s work portrays the habits and ideas of the rural population.
