The overwhelming charm of this film miniature is due to the old-fashioned special effects made with much patience and love. Jeff Balsmeyer and his brother Randall have had much experience working on large film productions (respectively as storyboard artist and as cameraman). They have exploited this experience in their own imaginative project, be it on a much smaller scale but with great effort. The story is like the realisation of a boy’s dream. A boy who is never allowed out of the house flees into his room after a quarrel with his father. In a spectacular way he pursues his flight; his room tears itself free of the New York apartment block and lands on the street with the boy. He grabs a few things together under the very eyes of a flabbergasted crowd and heads into town.
