The Cartographer’s girlfriend

A cartographer works in his spare time on a map which he wants to look like an old, very important archaeological find.The man is also very shy, which does not prevent him from falling in love with a girl who suddenly seems to appear from nowhere. She moves in with him, but doesn’t say anything about herself. He doesn’t ask because, he says, things are good they way they are. But this isn’t enough for her and she leaves after ripping his map from the wall.The film shows the formal conversations between the boy and the girl and between the boy and his colleague when he is at work in the streets. This colleague is a smooth type who is all too willing to advise him about life in general and women in particular.The Cartographer’s Girlfriend is a film about love and confusion. The boy only finds security in his map and is confused by the chaos which love involves. He says: ‘All women look alike. When a man is in love, he can’t see a thing.’
