Lightroom Expanded
From exclusive experience to shared experiences at scale.

Lightroom Expanded is a development programme for immersive and interactive projects, helping them reach a larger, shared audience through repeated presentation and touring across different venues.
The programme supports creators in developing promising projects into scalable and audience-ready productions. It provides tailored guidance in storytelling and audience design, technology and production, and audience reach, touring and distribution.
Lightroom Expanded is a partnership between IFFR, UPscaleXR and DASHXR, with support from Cultuurloket DigitALL, as part of IFFR’s wider Lightroom platform for immersive and interactive storytelling.
Which projects should apply?
Lightroom Expanded is intended for projects facing a clear artistic, technical, operational or distribution challenge related to scale.
Projects may be in development, pre-production or production. Existing works may also apply when they are being substantially adapted for a new, repeatable or tourable presentation model.
Projects may be suitable when they aim to:
- create a shared or simultaneous audience experience
- increase audience capacity or improve audience flow
- present the work repeatedly across multiple sessions
- adapt the work for different venues or technical environments
- develop a viable touring or distribution model
- reach more audiences without compromising artistic integrity
What does the programme offer?
Each selected project enters a tailored development process based on its needs, stage and principal research question, beginning with an introductory assessment involving the project team, IFFR, UPscaleXR and DASHXR. Together, the partners define the project’s development priorities and determine which expertise and activities are most relevant. Central to this is that we integrate each project into a new platform for XR management and showcasing, offering a standardized infrastructure for development and presentation.
Support may include:
- artistic or dramaturgical guidance
- audience design and user-experience development
- technical advice, prototyping or integration
- testing of presentation and audience-flow models
- production and operational guidance
- development of touring and distribution strategies
- introductions to venues, programmers, technical partners and other relevant professionals
