Several men play a computer game, in which the lovely virtual teen Rinko inevitably wraps players around her finger. During the weekend, they stroll around the Japanese port city of Atami with their devices, communicating and flirting with Rinko. A couple of teenage lovers also visit Atami, after which the girl discovers her boyfriend falling for the virtual Rinko.
The two filmmakers (long-term collaborators) explore the boundaries between fact and fiction, both substantively and structurally. They have mixed documentary and drama, exploring the dividing lines between real-life and digital identities, virtual and real-world communities, as well as digital developments. Their modern humans feel lonely despite their intense virtual contact. In the meantime, an elderly couple shows what it means to maintain an enduring relationship with a real human being, with shortcomings, heart-warming character traits, and a beating heart.
