IFFR College Tour: Erasmus University Rotterdam
Always wanted to know what goes on at the organisation of one of the biggest film festivals in the Netherlands? Erasmus University Rotterdam and IFFR present a College Tour evening on 7 November where you can meet Festival Director Vanja Kaludjercic and programmer Koen de Rooij. Afterwards, we’ll screen a top film from IFFR 2023: Blue Jean. The event is open to both the public and students, with reservation required.

With an introduction by lecturer Fraser Robinson (ESHCC), we’ll find out about the build-up towards IFFR 2025. Vanja will be joined by programmer Koen de Rooij to discuss the importance of volunteers for the festival.
About the film
Blue Jean, 2022, Georgia Oakley, United Kingdom
Northern England, 1988. Margaret Thatcher’s Conservative government is introducing the now-notorious Section 28. Closeted gym teacher Jean has been balancing her personal and working life accordingly until a new girl at school risks the collision of Jean’s worlds. Shot on 16mm, featuring an alluring palette of deep and vivid blues, British writer-director Georgia Oakley’s feature debut is an intimate, unglamourised character study set in a period of formalised stigmatisation that remains all too relevant.
