Tiago Melo

Tiago MELO (1984, Brazil) started his career in theatre. In 2007, he took the course Dramatic Construction at the Escuela Internacional de Cine y Televisión (EICTV), Cuba. Since then, he has worked in film production on several short films and more than 20 feature films. As a director, Melo made his first short documentary Urânio Picuí in 2012. Melo demystifies the everyday life of those who form the Maracatu Rural, commenting on universal emotions and desires and the influence of technology and social media. His debut feature as director, Azougue Nazaré (2018), premiered at IFFR and won the Bright Future Award. Yellow Cake (2025) is his second feature.
