Lillah Halla
Lillah HALLA (1981, Brasil) is a filmmaker graduated from EICTV Cuba. Her short film Menarca (2020) was officially selected for Cannes Film Festival Critics’ Week and was awarded at Tirana, Toulouse, Kurzfilmtage Winterthur and Curta Cinema. Levante (2023), her debut feature film, premiered at Cannes Critics’ Week, winning the FIPRESCI Prize for Best Film and more than 25 international awards, including at IFFR. Halla is currently financing her second feature, Colhões de Ouro (Golden Balls), selected for Cannes’ Next Step II and supported by the Hubert Bals Fund and CineMart 2026. She has participated in the Locarno Academy, TIFF Lab, Berlinale Talents and Talent Paradiso, and was an artist-in-residence at Berlin’s Akademie der Künste. Halla teaches at EICTV-Cuba and Catalyst Berlin. She co-founded the queer feminist Coletivo Vermelha in São Paulo.
