Kent Jones
Kent JONES (1960, US) is a film critic, filmmaker and programmer. He studied film at New York University before turning to criticism, writing for publications including Film Comment, Cahiers du Cinéma, Artforum and Cinema Scope. In the 1990s, he worked as a video archivist for Martin Scorsese and later collaborated on several documentaries about film history. Jones directed the documentary Val Lewton: The Man in the Shadows (2007), co-directed A Letter to Elia (2010) and later made Hitchcock/Truffaut (2015). His narrative feature debut, Diane (2018), marked a shift toward fiction filmmaking. From 2013 to 2019, he served as Director of the New York Film Festival. His latest film, Late Fame (2025), is part of the IFFR 2026 selection.
