James Scott
James SCOTT (1941, UK) is the son of British artist William Scott. At the age of nine he was given a box camera which sparked his love for photography. He attended Slade School for Fine Arts to study Painting and Theatre Design. During his studies, he directed his first film, The Rocking Horse (1962). His short film A Shocking Accident (1982) was nominated for a BAFTA for Best Short Film and won an Oscar for Best Short Film, Live Action. In 1990, he released Strike It Rich, before taking a 12-year break from filmmaking. In 2017, he made the personal documentary Vanishing Point, which he filmed on his iPhone. His short documentary Fragments had its world premiere at IFFR 2020.
