Grace Passô
Grace PASSÔ is a director, playwright and actress, one of the most recognised Brazilian artists of her generation. She works in partnership with other Brazilian directors, artists, and theatre companies, as well as producing her own artistic works. Passô also founded Espanca!, a theatre group which she remained part of for 10 years. She was a chronicler for the O Tempo newspaper, and has given dramaturgy and interpretation workshops at several Brazilian companies and artistic institutions.
She recently acted in the play Preto, with Renata Sorrah, Rodrigo Bolzan, Felipe Soares, and Nadja Naira. Her monologue Vaga Carne became one of the most awarded shows in recent years in the country, and was adapted to cinema by her and Ricardo Alves Jr. The film premiered at the opening of the Tiradentes Film Festival in 2019, and internationally at the Berlinale 2020 within the Forum Expanded exhibition.
Passô also wrote and directed the short film Republica, at the invitation of Instituto Moreira Sales. And acted in the film Praça Paris, by Lucia Murat (for which she received the award for Best Actress at Festival do Rio 2017), and Season, by André Novais Oliveira (for which she received awards for Best Actress at Festival de Brasília and at Festival de Torino, in Italy) among others.
