Erkki Kurenniemi

Erkki KURENNIEMI (1941-2017, Finland) was a philosopher, multimedia artist, designer and a pioneer of Finnish electronic music. He is best known for the electronic instruments he designed and his music compositions. In 1961 he founded the electronic music studio for the Department of Musicology at the University of Helsinki. Mika TAANILA made a documentary about Erkki Kurenniemi called The Future Is Not What It Used to Be (2002). In 2011 Kurenniemi received the Order of the Lion of Finland medal from The President of Finland.
