Badrul Munir
Badrul MUNIR (Indonesia) is an artist and cultural practitioner whose work centres on the preservation and contemporary transmission of local cultural heritage. Working primarily in documentary film, he has directed several short and feature-length documentaries that engage with community-based histories and collective memory. His feature documentaries include Dongeng Rangkas (2011) and Layar Pasti Turun (2023), the latter created in collaboration with the artistic community Forum Saijah. Alongside filmmaking, Munir writes theatre scripts, novels and academic texts on the cultural history of Lebak. In 2024, he was appointed Head of the Lebak Regency Cultural Council and also selected to lead the Expert Team for Cultural Heritage, roles through which he continues to support cultural development in the region.
