Sylvain Chomet
Sylvain CHOMET (1963, France) is a French comic writer, animator and filmmaker. He began his career as a comic book artist, earning the prestigious René Goscinny Prize in 1996. In 1991, he began working on his first animated short, The Old Lady and the Pigeons (1997), which won a BAFTA, the Grand Prize at the Annecy International Animated Film Festival and was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Animated Short Film. His feature debut, The Triplets of Belleville (2003), was nominated for two Oscars. He later directed The Illusionist (2010), based on an unproduced script by Jacques Tati. His latest film, Marcel et Monsieur Pagnol (2025), a biographical portrait of Marcel Pagnol, premiered in a special screening at the Festival de Cannes 2025 and competed at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival 2025.
