Samuli Valkama
Samuli VALKAMA (1974, Finland) is a film director and screenwriter who works across cinema and television. He studied animation at the Turku Arts Academy and began his career with short films before moving into features and long-form series. Alongside filmmaking, he has also written children’s books. Valkama made his feature debut with Hulluna Saraan (2012), followed by Ei kiitos (2014), adapted from the novel by Anna-Leena Härkönen, and Saattokeikka (2017). His later work has focused strongly on television, directing several popular Finnish series and the international miniseries The Man Who Died, based on Antti Tuomainen’s novel.
