Lawrence Lau Kwok-Cheong
Lawrence LAU KWOK-CHEONG (1949, South Africa) is a Hong Kong filmmaker. After he studied film production in California, he began his film career as an assistant director for Tsui Hark in Hong Kong. Having directed a few episodes for television, Lau moved on to make his debut feature Gangs in 1986. His films often foreground problems of the poor, colonialism and postcolonialism in Hong Kong.
