Joost van Hezik

Joost van HEZIK (1982) graduated in 2010 as a director from the Amsterdam Theatre School. While working as a repertory-theatre director, he decided to further school himself in the art of cinema. He made his first steps in film directing with the absurd and surreal drama series TreurTeeVee. In 2017, he moved his focus completely to film. Since then, he has directed two seasons of the acclaimed series TreurTeeVee and the youth series Kamp KoekieLoekie, which were both nominated for a Golden Calf in the category ‘best television series’. His first feature-length film Boy Meets Gun premiered in Busan in 2019, and was consequently picked up by various festivals. Joost is now in the final stage of post-production of the science-fiction youth series Zenith. His feature film Becoming Dubois is at an advanced stage of script development, and will be his first film as a writer/director.
